Where’s the data I had in the comments section of My Collections?
If you put all the pricing data in the comments section of the old site, that data is not lost. It's just not available right now. When we add this to Organize, your data will reappear. I do apologize for the temporary inconvenience. We're working very hard to be sure you have old features as well as a slew of new ones.

Can I upload my own images in Organize?
Not just yet- but it’s coming soon.

How do you Trade?
You can participate in trade in several ways.

First, you can search on a player, card or set by typing it in the search box found at the top of the page.
• Once you see the results, choose player, card or set detail page.
• Scroll down the page and click on the TRADE tab.
• This should display all available trades.

Second, you can go to ORGANIZE
• Either select or add the cards to Organize that you are interested in trading.
• Click on the Trade link found next to the View options
• Then indicate which cards you have, which ones you want and click the trade box.
• Be sure you make the collection public so others can see what you have to trade or what you are looking for. To do this click on the icon to the left of your collection name. A box will open up and allow you to click on Make Collection Public.

What if my pricing subscriptions or My Collections didn’t convert?
More than likely, we can help you with this. Please email customerservice@beckett.com with your member name so we can work with you to recover your data.

Where is my pricing?
1. Type in Card, Player, Set, or Year information in the large search field at the top of every page.

• You will then see search results that you can browse through.
• By default, the results will appear in a "gallery view," where you can see thumbnail images for the items you searched for.
• If you are subscribed to online pricing, click on the appropriate item and view Beckett pricing on the item's detail page.
• If you click on a detail page for a Set, you can view pricing on the whole set by clicking the "Price" tab from the detail page.
• Remember, you can be as specific or as general as you would like when using this search bar. The broader your search, the more steps there will be in finding the desired item.

2. If you would like to search in a way similar to the old OPG format, hover over the area marked "sport" underneath the large search bar.

• Select the desired sport from the text cloud. You will then see a broad search results page for the selected sport, firstly listing the sport's main "page."
• Click the tab marked "list view" to get a simplified version of your search results.
• Use the navigation on the left to drill down by set year, player, team, etc.
• This should seem very familiar, as it looks like the "search by year" option in the OPG.
• Scroll through to find the set, card, car, player, or team you are looking for.
• When in list view, you can view the item's description title and it's respective price to the right.

You can view a video tutorial on how to get pricing here.

You can search by player, team, set, individual card, or any other combination of search options. When you add the item(s) into Organize, it will hold them there like a big corral for all your cards. From Organize, you can search, sort, enter into a collection, adjust quantity, condition, identify as a graded card, identify if you own or want the card, set it up for Trade, and so much more.

Where are all of my collections?
If you already have an account on Beckett.com, the first time you log into the new website, all of your collections will be transferred over to the new site. This is done through a queue process and you can watch as your collections are processed and transferred into Organize. Feel free to continue adding new cards to Organize, or move to some other area of Beckett.com. It will not affect the transfer of your collections.

First time on Beckett.com? Start adding cards to Organize! These can be cards that you want or cards that you have. Then begin tagging them into collections, adding details such as condition, quantity, grading information, and more.

Why aren't there any prices?
If you do not see any pricing, then you need to get a Pricing Subscription. With a pricing subscription, you will see the Beckett high price when you go to Organize or when you search and select a card, player, set, team, or sport, or when even when you are working on a Trade.

How do I add something to Organize?
Anytime you see “+” it means that you can add that item into Organize. This can be one card or any number of cards. You can add all cards for a single player, team, set, or sport. Click on the link and it will add the item(s) into Organize for you. At that point, you will have the option of going to Organize or closing the window to continue searching the website.

In this window you can select the grading company, enter the grade, and enter the serial number. If it is a BGS or BVG graded card, you will need to validate the serial number before it will be accepted. BGS and BVG cards will have the sub-grades added upon validating the serial number.

Can I have cards in more than one collection?
Yes, you can have cards in multiple collections. If the tags get in the way, you can turn them off by clicking the Options button and un-checking the Show Tags option.

How can I delete something from the collection?
You can remove an item from a collection, and still have it remain in Organize. Simply drag the collection tag for the item into the Trash. The card will remain in Organize, but will be out of the collection.

To put it back, select the card, then click on Actions and select the collection you want to put it back into.

How can I delete a card from Organize?
To remove something completely from organize, select the card or cards and click Actions. At the bottom of the menu, you will see an option to "Move to Trash." Select this option and it will move all of the cards to Trash (located on the left hand side of the page).

If you decide you didn't mean to put it in the Trash, just click on Trash, select the card or cards, and click Actions. Click Restore Selected to put them back into Organize.

To permanently remove the cards from Organize, click on Trash, click Actions, and then click Empty Trash. This will permanently delete these items from Organize. If you accidentally deleted an item from Organize, just search for it again in the main search and add it back into Organize.

Please note that the item(s) will remain in the Trash until you "Empty Trash" through the Actions button. At that time they will be permanently removed from Organize.

How do I delete a Collection?
You can remove a Collection from Organize, whether or not you have cards in it by clicking on the collection so that you are viewing it. Then click on the icon next to “Currently viewing.” The very first option is the option to delete the collection. Click the “X” to remove the Collection.

How many collections can I have?
You can have as many collections as you would like.

How many cards can I enter into Organize?
You may enter as many cards as you would like.

What does "Tag" mean?
When you tag an item in Organize, it means that you have added it to a specific collection. You'll see the label with the collection name next to the card description. That is the Tag.

If the tags get in the way, you can turn them off by clicking the Options button and un-checking the Show Tags option. You can still select and view your collections; you just won't see the tag.

Did you know you can change the colors of your Tags?
Select one of your collections and then click on the "Hammer" icon next to the Currently Viewing collection name at the top of the page. Select your color and the tags will turn that color.

Can other people see the collection I've created?
If you mark a collection as public, then yes, others will be able to see your collection. When they go to your Profile page, they can click on the Collections tab to see any collections that you have set up as public collections.

How do I mark a collection as Public or Private?
By default, a collection is marked as private. If you want to make a collection public, select the collection, then click on the icon next to the "Currently Viewing" line. Put a check mark in the box next to "is Public." Your collection will be seen by other members on Beckett.com.

If you no longer want your collection public, just follow the same steps and uncheck the box. This will make it a private collection again.

Remember: If your collection is Private and any of the cards have been set up for Trade, then none of the cards will appear in the Trade Tab. Just make the collection Public for the cards to be seen.

How do I indicate that I have or want this card?
When you go to Organize, or open a collection, you will see two columns toward the right side of the page. One is labeled Have, and the other is labeled Want. By entering the correct quantities into the Have and Want fields, you will be able to track your collection and know what you still need to get and what you already have.

You can use the Fill Mode to enter the same information into selected cards with the click of a button.

What is the Fill Mode?
The Fill Mode will help you easily and quickly enter the same information for multiple cards. These can be cards that are in a particular collection, or the results of a search you performed in Organize.

Select the cards that you want to update with the same information. Click the Options button and select Fill Mode. You will see a yellow tool bar appear just above your cards. In the yellow tool bar, put a check mark at the top of the column(s) you want to change. You can select any number of columns. Then enter the desired information just under the check mark and click the Fill button. You will see the information populate for the cards you have selected.

How do I set up a card for a Trade transaction?

Put a check mark in the box next to the cards you wish to have available for trade. If the box is not checked, then it will not appear to other members as a Trade option.

This is also the page to show more specific information about the cards you have. The Have column represents the complete quantity you have of that card.

This is a perfect opportunity to use the Fill Mode!

Grading: Population Reports/Registry

How do I see population reports?
From your search results, go to the description page and click on the Grade Tab. You will see a bar chart with the population report. When you move your cursor over the various bars, you will see the actual numbers: grade and then the number at that grade. If the number is over 1000, you will see it represented with a “K” after the number. For example: 1.35K. This would equal 1350.

You have the ability to change the type of graph you see. The default is the bar graph, but you can also select a pie chart or line graph by clicking those options just above the graph.

How do I see the Graded Card Registry?
From your search results, go to the description page and click on the Grade Tab. You will see a bar chart with the population report. You will also see a link to Registry. Click on Registry. If there are registries for that card, then they will appear on the page.

Adding Images?
Currently we do not offer a way to add an image to your specific graded card entry. You can add an image of your card to the image gallery associated with the raw card. Search for your card in the main search, or find it in My Organize and click on the card description. From the detail page, you will see the stock photo image on the left-hand side of the page.

Look for the icon in the lower right hand corner of the stock photo. Click on the icon to open the Image Gallery.
Click on the Upload button. You can add a caption if you would like, indicate if it is an image of the back of the card, then click Select to browse your computer drive for the image of the card. When you have entered all of your information, click Upload Image.
When other members click on the icon to see the Image Gallery, they will be able to view an image of your card.

Entering Cards?
It's easy! Login to Beckett.com Add the card to My Organize if it is not already in a collection.
Go to My Organize. Open the collection or find the card in Recently Added. Click on the ... box to select the grading company and enter the grade and serial number. If it is a BGS or BVG card, you will need to validate the serial number before saving. Only enter the serial number and not comments into the serial number field.

Benefits of Entering Cards?
As you build your registries, they will become a detailed and visual showcase of your collection to other collectors all over the world.
As a graded card collector, you are an upper echelon hobbyist. The prestige of organizing your cards in an online registry is free and available to anyone owning a BGS graded card.

Organize your graded card collection. Sort your cards by final grade, subgrades, total score, etc. Know what you have, and know what you need.
Reward your hard work by entering your set and player registries into competition against others building the same sets. (this option is currently not available)
Your privacy is important to you, so most of the default settings in your preferences lean toward minimum disclosure for you and your collections. With Beckett Graded Card Registry, your collection of graded cards are accessible from any computer, world wide, 24/7.

Deleting Registries?
To change a card from a graded card to a raw card, simply go to Organize, find the card, and click on the '...' button next to the grade. From the next window, uncheck 'Graded Card' and click Save. This will turn the card back into a raw card and remove it from the registry.

To completely remove the graded cards (or any card) that you have added to Organize, go to Organize, open the collection and locate the card(s).
Put a check mark next to the card(s) and click the Actions button. Select the option to move the card(s) to Trash.
Open your Trash folder, select the item(s) again and click the Actions button. Select the option to Empty Trash. You will be asked if you are sure you want to do this, because once it is removed from Trash, you cannot undo the action. If you are sure, click OK. The card will no longer be in Organize.

Invalid Serial Number Message?
The first thing you should do is try to enter your serial number again, as simple typos can often lead to this message. If your serial number is correct, be sure you are entering your card into the proper set or player. For example, you cannot enter a 1990 Topps card into the Graded Card Registry for 1980 Topps.

Pricing Subscriptions

What happened to my Online Price Guide?
All of your Online Price Guides transferred to the new Beckett.com when logged in for the first time. When you search for a card, look at a collection, or are working on a Trade, you will see pricing information if you have a current subscription.

What's the difference between an Online Price Guide and a Pricing Subscription?
The Online Price Guides and Pricing Subscriptions are essentially the same thing. They both provide pricing for individual cards on Beckett.com. The Pricing Subscription will allow additional flexibility to your subscriptions. You will be able to subscribe at the individual Card level, Player level, Sport level, or Total Access. You can customize it to fit your needs.

The new pricing subscriptions will automatically renew so you will not need to re-subscribe at the end of 1-month, 6-months, or 12-months. If you wish to turn off this function, hold the cursor over your Account Tools tab, select Pricing Subscriptions, and then click the Stop button next to the subscription(s) you no longer wish to have auto-renew.

If you had a subscription that transferred over to the new Beckett.com, it will not automatically renew. You will need to subscribe again to set up the auto-renewal function.

How do Pricing Subscriptions work?
Pricing Subscriptions have 2 components: 1) the level of the subscription, and 2) the duration of the subscription.

Subscription Level is the type of pricing you want. It may be pricing for an individual item, a particular player, or a specific sport. You can also get Total Access that lets you see pricing for EVERYTHING on Beckett.com.

Subscription Duration is the length of the subscription.  They come in packages of 1-month, 6-months and 12-months. The longer the duration you buy, the greater the discount!

Why are some Pricing Subscription options crossed out?
Higher-level pricing subscriptions include access to pricing for those below it. For example: If you have purchased a Football Pricing Subscription, the option to purchase a Tom Brady subscription will not be available because it is already included with the Football subscription. You will see the Pricing Subscription options crossed out so you won’t buy duplicate subscriptions.

Can I change my Pricing Subscription after I’ve purchased it?
When you purchase a Pricing Subscription, you can always upgrade to a higher level or change the duration of the subscription.

If you want to upgrade to a higher level (for example you purchase pricing for an individual card, and then decide you want the full player pricing), just subscribe to new pricing level. No other action is required. Please note that we do not adjust the higher level subscription price because of a previous purchase at the lower level.

If you want to change the duration of a current subscription, simply purchase a new subscription. When you do this, the system will stop auto-renewal of your current subscription at its expiration date and start the new subscription on that date.

How do I get Beckett Pricing?
Pricing Subscriptions (previously called Online Price Guides) are easy to purchase and flexible to your needs. Links to purchase pricing are available on nearly every page. Look for links and notices to purchase pricing that read: Available Pricing Subscriptions or Click here to purchase pricing.

Select the level of subscription you would like, card, player, sport, or total access. A window will pop-up asking you what length of subscription you would like and will show you how many points are necessary for the subscription. Select the length of subscription and then click the Purchase button. Be sure that everything is correct before clicking the Purchase button.

If this is your first purchase, you will be asked to enter your credit or debit card information, and then finalize the purchase. PayPal is not available as an option to purchase Pricing Subscriptions.

Your credit card information will kept on file for additional Pricing Subscriptions purchases. All you’ll need to do is OK the purchase.

How much does a Pricing Subscription cost?
The cost of a pricing subscription will vary depending upon the level and duration of the subscription. By holding the cursor over the Available Pricing Subscription options you will see the pricing for each option.

How can I get the best price?
By selecting a longer subscription, you will receive a discount. With a 6-month subscription, you will see a 15% discount. With a 12-month subscription, you will see a 25% discount.

I purchased a Pricing Subscription but the price is $0.00.
As with the previous Online Price Guides, some pricing may not be available due to scarcity, or if it has not yet been priced. You will see a pricing subscription message for the card or set letting you know if pricing is not available for it.

For example: 2007 Absolute Memorabilia Absolute Heroes Spectrum no pricing available

Can I cancel a Pricing Subscription?
Pricing subscriptions cannot be canceled once they are purchased. However, you can stop the auto-renewal of your subscription. Hold the cursor over your Account Tools tab, select Pricing Subscriptions, and then click the Stop button next to the subscription(s) you no longer wish to have auto-renew.

What happens if I accidentally purchased pricing I didn't want?
Always be very careful to look over your pricing subscriptions before finalizing the purchase. Make sure you have the correct level and duration before agreeing to purchase the subscription. Once it is purchased, we cannot undo it.

Do I have to use points to purchase pricing?
Yes. Points are the currency of Beckett.com. If you do not have enough points in your account to purchase the Pricing Subscription, you will be prompted to purchase the points necessary for your subscription.

At the end of my Pricing Subscription term, do I need to renew again?
Your Pricing Subscription is set up to auto-renew each time the expiration date comes up, so you will not need to renew your subscription each month, every 6-months, or every year. The pricing for single cards are an exception and will not auto-renew when the subscription ends.

How can I turn off the auto-renew function for my Pricing Subscription?
If you no longer wish to have your Pricing Subscription renew upon expiration, go to your Account Tools, click on the Pricing Subscriptions Tab, and then click the Stop button for the subscription you wish to turn off.

Can I submit prices for a card?
Yes, if you have a pricing subscription. When you search for a card, go to the description page, and then click on the Price Tab. You will see a section where you can enter the price you paid, the price you sold it for, or your thoughts on what you think the card is worth. You can also add in any comments you would like. Be sure to click the “Submit Price” button.

When you come back to the page, you will see the high and low prices submitted by Members for that card. We’ll keep a 30-day running average of the item’s high and low submitted prices.

Why am I being charged for more points than my purchase requires?
To help you save time on our website, the system sells points in bundles.  The minimum points bundle you can purchase for Trade transactions is 1000 points.  The minimum points bundle you can purchase for Pricing Subscriptions is 500 points.  Points are the Beckett.com currency!  If you have leftover points from a transaction, you can use it for future trades, pricing subscriptions, and specialized editorial content!

Searching on the new Beckett.com

How do I search for a card, player, team, set, etc?
There is now one single place to search for cards and from your search results you can do anything - Discuss, Learn, Organize, and Shop. You can enter in key words for your search into the search field and then click Go. From the results, you can search within the results or use the navigation links on the left-hand side of the page to narrow your search even further.

You can also look for quick search links by holding the cursor over Popular, Recent, Sport or Category. Then select from one of the options that appears in the window.

Be sure to watch for the navigation links on the left-hand side of the page and the questions at the top of that can help you narrow your search. For example, if you search 2007 Absolute Memorabilia, you could be asked, "Are you looking for a Box, Card, Set or Collector?" If you click on box, card, set, or collector it will take you to the results for boxes, cards, sets, or collectors.

I'm looking for all of the cards within a particular set. How can I find them?
Start by searching for the set. When the correct set appears, click on the title of the set. This will take you to the Set Page. On the set page, just underneath the name of the set, you will see a link "Cards found in (set name)." Click on this link and it will take you to all of the individual cards within this set.

I can't find what I'm looking for?
If you are typing in a keyword, remember that the search is looking for an exact match. Try typing in just one or two words or selecting a search from the Popular, Recent, Sport, or Category drop down menus to begin, and then filter down you search with the options on the left-hand side of the page or search within the results.

Why aren't there any prices?
If you are not seeing prices, it means that you have not yet subscribed to pricing or that your current subscription has expired. To subscribe, search for the Card, Player, or Sport and you will see the various subscription options available to you. Select the appropriate level and duration, and then click Purchase.

What's the difference between Gallery View, Row View, and List View?
The Gallery View will be your best option if you’re interested in viewing available images for the items in your search. It will show the images in rows of 4 and then a description underneath. Click on the description for further details and activities regarding the card, player, set, team, sport, etc.

The Row View will display the items with one item per row. It will include a brief description of the item if available. Plus, you can view prices if you have purchased a pricing subscription. If you haven’t, then you can purchase the subscription directly from this page. Click on the description for further details and activities regarding the card, player, set, team, sport, etc.

The List View is similar to the Row View, but will not include any images. You can view or purchase subscription pricing from this page. You can also click on the description for further details and activities regarding the card, player, set, team, sport, etc.

From all views, you can sort the search results and change the number of items that appear on the page.

Trade

What do you mean by Trade?
When we use the term Trade, such as the Trade Tab on the Card Page or Trade View in Organize, we are referring to the opportunity to trade cards (when no money changes hands), or to buy or sell cards (cards for a dollar amount) with other members on Beckett.com. You can still purchase cards and other collectibles from our Marketplace Stores. To do this, either click the Shop Tab for links to the Marketplace, or go to www.beckettmarketplace.com.

How do I set up my cards for Trade?
You set your cards up for Trade through Organize. Open up a collection you have created and click on the Trade view. For each card in the collection, you will be able to show any of the following: that you own the card, that you own the card and want to keep it, or that you want the card. Just enter in the correct quantity.

Next you will need to indicate if you are willing to trade it, or if you are willing to buy or sell it. If you are willing to trade it (meaning no money changes hands), put a check mark in the Trade column. If you want to use the buy/sell options for the card, just put in a buy price or a sell price.

The last important step for others to see what you have for Trade is to make your collection Public. Click the icon next to "Currently Viewing:" and put a check mark next to "is Public." This will allow others to see your cards when they go to the Trade Tab or try to initiate a Trade with you.

What is the cost of Trading?
Trades are free! No charges are applied to Trade transactions in which each member in the Trade includes at least one (1) item on their side of the offer.

What is the cost of Selling?
A fee will be charged based upon the listed dollar amount of the item sold and will be applied at the time it sells. When a sale is completed, a 3.5% fee, based upon the listed price (not the agreed upon price), will be charged to your account. As with all transactions on Beckett.com, points will be used for payment of these fees. See the section on Points to learn about the currency on Beckett.com.

How do I Trade with someone?
One way to start a trade is to search for the card you want. Click on the card description to go to the Card Page. Select the Trade Tab to see if anyone has it available for selling, buying or trading. If they do, you can initiate a trade with them.

Another way to find cards available for trade is to take a look at your Traders List. Click on one of your favorite traders. From their profile page you can click on the link to initiate a trade with them. Once you have initiated a trade, you will see the Trade Window appear. Click the Add to Offer button to identify whether it will be a sale or a card for card trade. Once you identify the type of transaction, enter in the appropriate card(s) or dollar amount in your side of the Trade as well as on the other participant’s side of the Trade. Click Review offer to see what you have added into both sides. You can go back to Add to Offer if you would like to continue to edit it. Review offer will always take you back to the details of the trade.

Remember that you may also include Comments in addition to your offers and counter-offers. Click on Show Comments or Hide comments to view them or hide them.

Once the transaction is how you want it, click Send Offer. The other participant will have the opportunity to edit or accept your offer. If there is a counter-offer, you then have the opportunity to edit or accept the counter-offer. You may continue to do this until both parties are happy with the trade. Then accept the Transaction.

Be sure to finalize the shipping information and get the card or purchase price out to the other member as soon as possible. Don't forget to leave feedback after the transaction is complete!

To see a history of your Trades, click on the Trade icon (two arrows in the upper right hand corner of the page).

What happens when a trade is done?
When you complete a trade, be sure to follow through with either sending the card(s) or payment promptly. This will avoid any unnecessary confusion for the other party thinking they are not receiving their item(s). Then be sure to leave feedback for the other person. Be factual with your response as it will affect their Trader Rating. They will also be rating you, so make sure you handle things in an professional manner.

If you are sending a card to the other party, you will also have the opportunity to move the card from your collection to theirs. This can be done with the click of a button when you have completed the trade.

How do I know where to send the cards or payment?
If the other party has entered shipping information into their Trade Settings page (in Account Tools) you will be able to see shipping information. If not, be sure to use the comment options through the Trade window to get this information. Don’t forget to update your shipping on the Trade Settings page!

Can I leave feedback for someone I traded with?
Yes! That is an important step to the Trade process. Be sure to leave feedback for the person you trade with. This will help other members benefit from your experience.

I set my cards up for Trade, but they are not showing up when someone is trying to Trade with me.
This is probably because your collection is still set as Private. If a collection is set as Private, then it is not viewable by others. Go to Organize, select the Collection, and then click on the icon next to Currently Viewing at the top of the page. Put a checkmark next to "is Public" and this will make the collection public and others will be able to see the cards you have available for trade.

How do I let the other person know about shipping costs?
Trade - card for card or card for points - shipping charges are the responsibility of the person shipping the card. Always ship the cards in a protected manner to keep them from getting damaged in the mail.

Buying and Selling - shipping costs can be added into the Trade Settings page (in your Account Tools) so that the other party can see the information or it can be discussed during the transaction. The buyer is responsible for paying the shipping cost and the seller should include that cost into the negotiations if not identified in the Trade Settings page.

Can I still contact the other person once the trade is finished?
Yes, you can still communicate back and forth through the Trade window, or you can send a message to that member through the Message tool.

How can I improve my trader rating?
The more you trade and the better the feedback you receive, the better your rating will be. Always be sure to complete your trade and send the card(s) out promptly to the correct address. Always ship the card out in a manner that will provide protection when going through the mail.

Can I trade with someone who is not on my list of Traders or Friends?
Sure. If you see that a card you want is available for trade, just click the Trade button to initiate the trade. The other person does not need to be on your trader list. If you're happy with the trade, you may want to add them so you can trade some more!

Where can I find my Trades?
When you are logged into Beckett.com, look for the icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen that shows 2 arrows pointed in different directions. If you move the mouse over the icon, a drop down menu will appear to provide a summary of your trades. Click on the icon to be taken to your Trade history page. From your Trade history page, you will see any trades that are waiting for action from you, and trades that are waiting for action from the other party. You will also see all of your completed or canceled trades.

What happens if I never get my card?
If you don't get your card, contact the other party through the comments section and/or the message system available through Beckett.com. The other party will have the information about the shipping of your card or payment.

Remember that Beckett is not a participant in these transactions and you will need to contact the other party for resolution.

How do I make a counter-offer to the dollar amount in a Sale Transaction?
To change the other person's cash amount in a trade, use the Comments feature. You can open the Comments box using the "Show Comments" link in the top right corner of the Trades window. Once you've added the comment, hit the green "Counter Offer" button to send the offer back to the other person for review.

Protecting Yourself While Online

Please note that the Trade services are not regulated by Beckett.com. We have provided some information below that may help you protect yourself from bad Trades. We hope this helps you out. There are a lot of honest traders out there, but there are also some to watch out for.

While online with Beckett we have listed a few things to remember to keep your transactions safe and honest.

Free/Anonymous Email Services: Not ALL free email services are anonymous, though most are. Since they are anonymous, people using those services are not traceable in the case of fraudulent acts. It is recommended that if an unknown user does not have many feedback postings, and is using a free email service, that you use precautions while conducting transactions with them.

P.O. Box Addresses: Not ALL users with P.O. Box addresses are being fraudulent by having one; some people do not live in areas with home mailing addresses (such as mobile-home parks, college campuses, etc.). We would recommend that if a user does not have many feedback postings and is using a P.O. Box address, that you use caution in the transaction.

"You Send First": Of course someone has to be the first person to send in a transaction, though we offer these simple ways to make the transaction as safe as possible.

Insurance - always insure your packages.

U.S. Postal Service- the only service in the country that upholds the Federal Law of Mail Fraud. They are most helpful in tracing your mailings, especially when insurance has been used.

Paper Trails: Always keep records of your transactions; keep all communications between yourself and the other user, save all receipts for Postage, and Insurance, etc.

Remember, common sense is the best way to make a transaction go smoothly. We'd like to think that all users online with Beckett are honest, but the truth is that there are people all over the internet waiting for you to not take these precautions when dealing with them; you always need to be careful on Beckett, or anywhere on the internet.

What do the thumbs up and thumbs down icons mean?
These icons are how you will rate a discussion topic or a comment about a discussion topic. If you liked it, admired it, felt that it was accurate and insightful, or for whatever reason you like it, click on the thumbs up icon. If you didn't agree with it, didn't think it was factual, or for whatever reason you did not like it, click on the thumbs down icon.

A positive rating is one factor that makes articles and discussions popular, helping them appear closer to the top of the list in the personalized homepage Beckett Blocks. Negative ratings help Beckett get rid of spam and off-topic content, making our News and Discussion boards more relevant to the search results.

How do I report inappropriate postings?
Giving a comment or reply a ‘Thumbs Down’ will allow users to report one of four types of inappropriate postings.

Off Topic – select this option if you feel the posting is not related to the topic it’s being displayed under
Troll – select this option if you feel this person is being deliberately destructive or abusive.  The best way to respond to trolls is to ignore their comments and give them a ‘Thumbs Down’.
Spam – select this option if you feel the posting is unsolicited, commercial advertising
Vulgarity – select this option if you feel it is inappropriate conduct or language

The more users giving a posting a ‘Thumbs Down’, the more likely that posting will be buried.  As this system has an intelligent weighting system, users with higher experience levels have a bigger impact in this voting process.
